Meggitt Sensing Systems facility renews AS9100 certification

February 22, 2011—Germantown, MD - Meggitt Sensing Systems, the makers of Wilcoxon Research accelerometers and vibration monitoring products, passed an annual audit to renew the Germantown facility"s AS9100 Aerospace Standard for Quality Systems certification.

To maintain the AS9100 certification, which was initially obtained in 2009, Meggitt Sensing Systems underwent a rigorous audit of the Germantown, Maryland facility. Employees, processes, and operations were assessed to verify that quality assurance practices meet the requirements of the AS9100 Aerospace Standard for Quality Systems, a prerequisite in order to provide products to the aerospace market. DNV Certifications conducted the review in accordance with the AS9100 requirement of annual audits to maintain the validity of the registration.

Meggitt Sensing Systems"s Wilcoxon Research products are produced in Germantown, Maryland, under a demanding quality management system. Meeting the AS9100 standard ensures the highest quality design, development, and manufacture of Meggitt"s Wilcoxon Research products, said John Churchill, Quality Assurance Director. Meggitt"s commitment to aerospace and industrial customers alike is demonstrated by the Germantown facility"s dual registration to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, which was also upgraded; the facility is now certified to meet the most recent version of the Quality Management System standard, ISO 9001:2008.
