Meggitt offers handheld vibration meters for fast machinery health analysis

December 11, 2013—Meggitt Sensing Systems (MSS), the division of Meggitt PLC specializing in advanced condition monitoring and machinery protection systems for rotating machinery, now offers smart machinery health meters.

Utilizing high performing Meggitt sensors for accurate data, and intuitive analysis, MachineryMate™ meters provide fast, reliable vibration and bearing readings from industrial machinery. Their rugged IP67 rated waterproof cases can be used in the most demanding plant environments including food and beverage, mining, pulp and paper, power plants, automotive and petrochemical.

Meggitt’s handheld meters take quick vibration and velocity measurements from assets including pumps, motors, fans and bearings for on-the-spot maintenance decisions. Requiring little to no training, the portable, battery powered meters help to reduce unplanned downtime, prioritize repair and manage resources.

The MAC200 and 800 series meters analyze machine running speeds to diagnose faults including unbalance, misalignment and looseness. Values are reported on a color-coded background, matching ISO machine alarm levels for quick health analysis. Complex machine problems are displayed on an 800-line FFT spectrum.

The advanced MAC800 series comes with DataMate software for spectrum storage and advanced trending. Data can be uploaded to a PC for further analysis and report generation. Particularly useful for monitoring lubrication or bearings, the MAC800 can connect to Bluetooth headphones, for audible monitoring of noise and other machine anomalies. An optional strobelight attachment can be used to identify shaft speed, coupling alignment and belt condition.
