Meggitt Sensing Systems hires Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

August 11, 2011— Germantown, MD - Meggitt, the manufacturer of industry-leading accelerometers and vibration sensing products, announced today that it has hired Nick Pignone as the new Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. Mr. Pignone"s safety knowledge and experience will greatly enhance the Meggitt Sensing Systems work environment, ensuring that all products are created in a safe and sustainable setting.

In his role as Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, Mr. Pignone will be supporting a number of work sites in maintaining a variety of health, safety and environmental programs and procedures. Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local law regulations while integrating programs with Meggitt Health, Safety and Environmental Policies will ensure that all sites are running safely and up to code. Mr. Pignone will also be in charge of coordinating WEEE, RoHS, Reach and other similar efforts. Based in Germantown, Maryland, Nick will be responsible for the supervision of Meggitt"s Wilcoxon Research product line assembly, enforcing that all safety procedures are met.

Nick not only has knowledge in Safety Studies, he brings practical experience that he can use to help create a safer work environment, said Jim Michaelis, Chief Operating Officer for Wilcoxon Research products. His familiarity working with safety procedures will help to improve our facility at present and down the line. Mr. Pignone has undergone EHS training in college and at Meggitt (New Hampshire) Inc. where he worked before joining Meggitt (Maryland) Inc.

Mr. Pignone brings a strong background of EHS policies and procedures, as well as practical skills from implementing safety procedures in live settings. Mr. Pignone holds a Bachelor of Science of Safety Studies from Keene State College - New Hampshire. His past responsibilities include the evaluation and implementation of safety procedures at Manchester Technical College, resulting in improvement of the entire school"s standards, as well as providing a safe and organized environment for athletes and fans at sporting events. The addition of the specialist position will implement new EHS procedures and help to improve Meggitt (Maryland)"s current policies and goals.
